I love Sundays. Though today was raining, we enjoyed a long stroll through Paris – all the way from our place in the 14th to haut Marais, and ended up having lunch at a place I have wanted to try for ages: Nanashi Bento.
Nanashi Bento serves Japanese style bento with a French twist. I had the weekend bento with smoked salmon, served with a piece of cereal galette and pickled fennel and orange. The cold sauce was flavored with wasabi. I was taken aback for a moment when I uncovered the pieces of pickled orange (they are hidden under the fennel) but the mix of the salmon, orange (which is a citrus fruit, and adding lemon to salmon is totelly normal, so not that surprising when you think about it) and wasabi were a fantastic mix. The other part of my bento was a salad with pickled vegetables, fresh arugula and baked parsnip, which was not as exciting but very fresh and filling.
Healty, tasty and a nice atmosphere – these things all add up to make Nanashi the perfect spot for lunch. Bonus: there are vegan options!
Nanashi Bento is located on 57 rue Charlot in the 3rd arrondissement, the nearest metro is Saint-Sébastien – Froissart. There is also a Nanashi Bento on 31 rue du Paradis in the 10th arrondissement, close to metro Poissonière.
